Hotel history ...

In the years since then an extra storey has been added to one wing of the hotel, a new wing added onto the side and all sorts of extensions added on to take advantage of the marvelous outlook across Cardigan Bay to Snowdonia.
Improvements are carried out every Winter whilst we are shut to make it better still. In terms of running Porth Tocyn over the past 50 years or more, there has been some fun some, heartache, some turbulence and some success.

Although my grand-parents started the hotel, my parents were soon brought in as students to help out. As my grandfather became ill, my parents found themselves giving up their outside careers to join the expanding business. By about 1965 my grandmother had retired and for a while my parents ran the hotel and another money-spinning catering business in Abersoch until the pressures got too much and they sold the latter.
